The Arduino GIGA R1 WiFi is engineered to meet the needs of advanced makers and developers looking to enhance their projects with robust, versatile functionality. It integrates powerful processing capabilities, expanded connectivity, and an accessible form factor matching the Arduino Mega and Due, making it ideal for applications in gaming, sound design, art, and IoT.
At its core, the GIGA R1 WiFi features an STM32H747XI dual-core microcontroller. This 32-bit architecture incorporates both a Cortex®-M7 core operating at 480 MHz and a Cortex®-M4 core at 240 MHz, enabling complex, parallel processing tasks. This architecture allows developers to run MicroPython on one core and Arduino code on the other, supporting hybrid applications that demand multitasking across different programming environments.
The wireless communication module (Murata 1DX) supports both Wi-Fi® and Bluetooth®, facilitating seamless connectivity for a range of IoT applications. With native support for the Arduino IoT Cloud, users can monitor and manage their projects remotely, with communication security enforced by the ATECC608A cryptographic co-processor, ensuring robust data protection across all networks.
Continuing the legacy of the Arduino Mega and Due, the GIGA R1 WiFi offers extensive hardware ports including 4 UARTs, 3 I2C ports, 2 SPI ports, and an FDCAN, expanding I/O options for handling multiple sensors, actuators, and peripherals. To maximize flexibility, the board provides 76 GPIO pins, maintaining compatibility with existing custom shields while adding additional headers for expanded pin access. Notably, GPIOs are accessible from the underside of the board, allowing integration without significant modifications to current setups. Additional features include a VRTC pin for RTC battery backup and an OFF pin, enabling precise power control.
The GIGA R1 WiFi also includes a comprehensive connector suite: a USB-A connector for mass storage and HID devices, a 3.5mm input/output audio jack linked to DAC0, DAC1, and A7, a USB-C® port for power, programming, and HID simulation, a JTAG connector, and a 20-pin Arducam camera interface. Designed with versatility in mind, this board can handle higher voltages than its predecessors, supporting inputs from 6 to 24 volts.
Optimized for ambitious projects, the Arduino GIGA R1 WiFi pairs seamlessly with the Arduino GIGA Display Shield, allowing developers to integrate a 3.97" 480x800 RGB touch screen, a digital microphone, a 6-axis IMU, and an Arducam® connector. This board provides a professional-grade platform for creating advanced, interconnected applications, supporting developers ready to bring their most innovative concepts to life.
