This tip and iron are very poor.I have tried many different temperatures and solders and even new flux .the tip and larger tip do not tin or retain heat.very surprised at this product as I used A switch iron station for years as a bench repair technician.I should have returned the soldering iron but forgot over few weeks.

I have discovered that successful soldering requires enough heat and a big enough tip. This 3mm chisel tip is the largest I have found for my 48W iron and has worked well so far - but I'm still hoping to find something bigger.
